Unwise to the extreme

Dick Cheney is saying that an immediate withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq would be "unwise to the extreme."

Unwise to the extreme would have been invading Iraq unilaterally to begin with. Which almost happened, if the US hadn't called for a coalition of the willing. Now, the entire affair has proven to be unwise. The administration supporters are saying that there is "progress being made in Iraq," when they're citing right-wing sources that are themselves aligned to support the war.

The truth is, none of us over here in cuddly North America really know what's going on in Iraq. We aren't there, and the quality of journalism coming out of that war-torn country is distorted at the best of times.

It's still a warzone. The sooner people come to realize that, the sooner they'll realize that there's a tug of war on the information coming out of there. Government sources are trying to censor or distort certain facts to better their stance on the war and shore up support, while anti-war activists are latching on to the bad news and trying to increase the exposure that the public gets to it. Is there a "good side" in this media war? No. Like the Iraq War, there is no good guy. Just conflicting ideologies.
